WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Students aged 8 to 28 who reside in the Kawartha and Greater Peterborough regions are eligible to join the Kawartha Youth Orchestra.

  • Musicians in the KYO are strongly encouraged to remain active in their school music programs.
  • It is strongly suggested that all prospective and current students enroll in private study on their primary instruments. The KYO can provide information about private instruction enrollment.

HOW DO I JOIN?

Please contact us with any and all questions you may have about our ensembles!

  • Beginning students of all ages are invited to join the Junior KYO! No experience is necessary for enrollment. Students typically spend two years developing their technical skills on a particular instrument before graduating to our intermediate level orchestra.
  • Students typically having played for a minimum of two years are placed in the Intermediate KYO. The ensemble’s conductor will listen to you play during a short, friendly, and casual assessment meeting to ensure you are placed in the best ensemble to match your skill set. These meetings allow us to create the best conditions for learning and to maintain our standards of excellence.
  • For interested musicians who may not have been aware of our programs prior to audition dates, mid-year auditions are held every December. Please contact us for information.
